LUNA
|
LUNA is a theatre group bringing together women from all over the world, who have survived forced displacement and gender based violence. It is delivered by Feedback Theatre in partnership with MamaSuze and supported by New Diorama Theatre and Old Diorama Arts Centre.
In 2022 a group of 12 women met weekly for 12 weeks to devise a piece of theatre and to co-create a set of outcomes and recommendations for the future of the project.
The group came back together with new participants to perform during Refugee Week 2023 and it is now re-staging its first show to be performed at the end of 2024.
“So, you think it’s a piece of cake?” is a piece explores notions of power, control, and care and the struggles and joy of creating our own path in life. Devised and performed by the Luna group at the New Diorama Theatre.
WHO WE ARE
The group created their own manifesto to guide the process:
"We are a group of diverse women.
We are a foundation for each other to lean on.
We are courageous, explorers, fierce, powerful, creative women.
We are inclusive.
We believe in raising our voices for the voiceless
We believe in unity and individuality.
We believe women are dedicated, resilient, beautiful and loving.
Women are leaders.
We want to empower other women to be independent and free
To value and respect themselves
We want to feel our power and know our worth."
