We are currently making Lull - a new show about mothering. A show that speaks about what it is really like, and what it has been like for us. It will be beautiful, visually and sonically, and cut through the crap to touch people deeply. They must leave having learnt something, about mothers, mothering and themselves.
There will be many voices and music - lullabies in particular. We will write our own music, that starts as single voices and then has rock bass lines and is loud. It’s all very full of emotion and sung by women.
There will be repetitive physical material that rocks and swings. And the audience will be involved in making it happen.
We are making it with mothers of different backgrounds and choices. We don’t know if they help to shape it or are in it or are the audience, or all of these - we will find out together.
We will use important and groundbreaking writing and research from sociologists, journalists, paediatricians and midwives, and invite these people into the process.
