Project and Role Description
We are making a new show about mothering and we are looking for a musician to work with us to create songs and soundscapes for the show.
You will be using original recordings of mothers speaking about their experiences and singing lullabies, to generate powerful tracks that allow the mothers to be palpably present in the show. The hope is that the sound will become a dynamic part of the performance, a chorus of mothers singing and speaking, communicating with the single performer on stage.
Some ideas we are interested in playing with are whether we can turn a lullaby into a rock song - what would rock-a-by-baby sound like with a bassline? Or whether we can use a composite of the recorded interviews to comment on what the live performer is doing? Can the live performer start a song that the recorded chorus later joins in with?
The fee for this work will be London Living Wage for all meetings and then a fixed fee for each track produced.
We would ideally like to work with someone who is a mother and will have lived experience of the content we are working with. However, if you are really interested in the project and are not a mother, please get in touch!
To express interest in this role, please email [email protected] by 12 noon on 12 March 2025 with a brief statement of why this work interests you and up to 2 examples of your work that you feel are relevant to the work described above.
